I'm sorry to inform you that a UNcontracted cargo plane crashed in Somalia. The aircraft, which was en route from Djibouti to Mogadishu, crashed in the outskirts of the capital city.
Initial reports indicate that there were no survivors and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The UN and other organizations are currently working to assist the affected families and provide support to the victims.
The crash is a tragic reminder of the risks that peacekeepers and humanitarian workers face while carrying out their missions to support vulnerable populations in conflictaffected areas. My thoughts and condolences go out to the families and friends of the victims.
